A Tale of Two Leaders
So now folks we have the low key announcement of the "Prime Minister's Volunteer Awards", this despite the fact that these awards already exist and, under the traditional system for recognition, it is the Governor General who bestows them. All of this was outlined in an article by the Globe's Jeffrey Simpson who pointed out that: "All honours and awards, up to and including, (if you can believe it), the Order of Canada, are under review to determine which, if any, might be more closely associated with the PMO . . . and, by definition, to the occupant of that office. And to add to the absurdity of this revelation; the review of all awards is being overseen by that paragon of unbiased thinking: John Baird. Funny, in his recent interview with Mansbridge on the much hated, (by the Conservatives) CBC, Mr. Harper states quite clearly that he and his party do not seek glory (or treasure). Who to believe eh?
