News about the Tobermory Trompers will be the main focus of this blog but not it's only one. I will include highlights from our Dofasco Golf Group as well as political updates that reflect my take on the run-up to the 2015 federal election. Your comments are most welcome as well as pictures and travel updates. Please address all comments to "Andy".

A History Lesson
Andy, it seems that you and your friend Jeffrey Simpson are somewhat misguided. If the government is getting ready to give out recognition for volunteers on its own behalf, it wouldn't be the first time. For example, back in 1992 "The Commemorative Medal For the 125th Anniversary Of The Confederation Of Canada" was conferred "In recognition of significant contribution to compatriots, community and to Canada" by the Federal and Provincial governments of the time. I know this because I was the surprised recipient of one - presented to me by an NDP MPP of all things! While it would have been more prestigious perhaps to have been accorded the pomp and ceremony of receiving it from the representative of our dysfunctional "royal" family, nevertheless, since every one of these awards, including the Order Of Canada, is given to people selected by the government, it seems to me to be reasonable for the government to want to make the presentation and take the credit. They are, after all, Canadian awards not British Empire awards. And, while we're on the subject of your rants, I was somewhat irritated at your comparison of Steven Harper to Hugo Chavez and incredulous at your depiction of Steven as emulating Kim Jung Il. You have succeeded in making the Conservative attack ads appear benign! Shame!! Your friend Dorsal.
