News about the Tobermory Trompers will be the main focus of this blog but not it's only one. I will include highlights from our Dofasco Golf Group as well as political updates that reflect my take on the run-up to the 2015 federal election. Your comments are most welcome as well as pictures and travel updates. Please address all comments to "Andy".

VEHICLE REPAIR MONOPOLY
In response to Andy's concern regarding the auto industry's sharing of diagnostic codes with non alligned repair shops I submit that I support the manufacturers. And I guess by extension the Industry Minister in his views. Let me state from the outset that the Auto Industry has been propped up by society, of late, far beyond any reasonable degree. However does that grant society accsess to proprietary documents with which to compete with them? I beleive not. The obvious feeling is that the dealership repair departments are ripping us off because they are restraining trade.
I purchased a used Acura in May of 2006 from an Acura dealer too far from where I reside to return it there for service or repair. After soliciting labour rates and time estimates for typical sevice needs from several local repair facilities; dealerships and independents I decided to use a local Honda dealer. I keep on file a service and repair record for interst and resale purposes and can state that my cost to maintain this vehicle in what I beleive is excellent condition is less than .025 cents per Kilometre driven. An invoice selected at random from my files for the usual inspection of tires, exhaust, fluids, suspension, belts, hoses, lights etc. Oil, filter and exterior wash-----taxes included: $39.76.
My point and fall back position is and hopefully will always be; stop relying on government to solve all your problems. Get off your ass, do your homework and take your best shot. I will always trust my own instincts (not always right by the way) over big bussiness or government
