Deja Vu All Over Agian

All the 2009 predictions I received correctly said that the coalition was dead and indeed it is . . . but, I guess that doesn’t mean we can’t have an election eh? I added to my 2009 prediction on this subject a caveat that the reason the coalition would never go forward was that the Conservatives would put away the club of confidence motions as a means of getting normal legislation through the House. But we’re back to the old confrontational politics and if there ever was a time that we needed these guys to work constructively together it’s now. I mean really, who’s going to bring down the government on a bill that introduces desperately needed short-term emergency aid to keep our economy going? (Other than Jack, I mean) Iggy is just doing what he must do to present a modicum of seeming opposition – he has no intention of triggering an election. Better to keep an accurate accounting on where the money's going so that he can whipsaw the geniuses of fiscal management at a later date. There will be screw-ups and according to the Conservative credo of accountability, they will have to own up to them. Or will they? Their record on accountability to-date is not that impressive. And of course their first report card is coming up shortly and I can just imagine how much that must piss them off. We’re still a long way from good government of any stripe. AH
