Andy, my prediction for an election was "not until 2010" and I haven't seen anything to change that situation. And the cat and mouse games will continue. Let's face it - there is not going to be any non-partisan cooperation in this country nor will there be in Obama's country, despite what the citizens of both countries overwhelmingly plead for and the politicians occasionally pretend to provide. The Republicans will still saboutage the Democrats, and Steven Harper will continue to bait Ignatieff, who is moving to the right about the same amount as the Conservatives have moved to the centre. Ultimately, they have to fear their parties more than each other. Ignatieff's shift will prove just as difficult for Michael as Steven's shift will be for him. The right-wing Reform wing will bide their time to teach Harper a lesson, just as the left-wing Trudeauites (Justin now, not Pierre) will inevitably pick a time to undercut Ignatieff, in the same way that Jean Chretien and Paul Martin destroyed each other in the past. Depending on who wins the next election, whenever it happens, one of those two scenarios will play out. Stay tuned.
