A reasoned response to Ian’s onslaught – (well I think so anyway)
Actually Ian, I’m sensing a degree of desperation in the camps of both my Liberals and your Conservatives. Obviously my guys face humiliation while for your side anything short of a majority is a de facto defeat. You have presented some well thought out arguments in your three postings. We are all impressed by the level of detail you went into in not only predicting the actual seat counts, but also providing the rational for your predictions. I’m not deluding myself that Canadians are going to “rise up” as requested by Ignatieff and there is no overwhelming righteous outrage being generated by the mini-scandals plaguing the Conservatives. However, I do sense that a lot of Canadians give these guys a grudging nod for their handling of the economy while at the same time admitting that they find it difficult to like the idea of them having total power. My prediction was a Conservative minority but with a loss of seats for them and I’m still thinking that will happen. But what about Jack; is this a surprise or what? Now I’m starting to get excited about a “unite the left” movement with Jack as the PM. In the upcoming week we might yet see some fireworks in this campaign.
