News about the Tobermory Trompers will be the main focus of this blog but not it's only one. I will include highlights from our Dofasco Golf Group as well as political updates that reflect my take on the run-up to the 2015 federal election. Your comments are most welcome as well as pictures and travel updates. Please address all comments to "Andy".

It's Another Year
Hi Andy. I bet you thought we'd forgotten you. Not so!
On the Provincial level, I look forward with great anticipation to the resolution of the Julian Fantino charges. He has interfered directly in the political process and denied equal justice to the people of Caledonia. I hope he gets his deserved comeuppance and that the Ontario government doesn't just sweep the evidence under the rug, along with the house they just demolished (the one that stood beside the Douglas Creek Estate "Reserve").
On the Federal scene, I imagine that you are thankful that Stephen has prorogued Parliament. Otherwise, by now the opposition parties would be filling their days launching partisan attacks on the Conservatives about Haiti.... not enough money promised, not enough troops and equipment sent, not fast enough, etc., etc......and looking partisanly stupid in the process.
As it is, the public's attention span is now consumed with Haiti, and then comes the Olympics, and then the Budget. Ignatieff fails to gain traction again.
On a more serious note, watching the news from Haiti day after day regularly brings tears to my eyes. I cannot comprehend the magnitude of the disaster, and I am afraid that the death toll will rise exponentially, as even the "healthy" ones succomb due to lack of food and water, or from disease, or from civil strife. How can a human being cope in the midst of such horror? How can they retain their faith in a higher power when It is so horribly cruel?
Perhaps this will bring the outside world to do something lasting that will improve the future for these unfortunate people - something that will not be kicked aside and lost when the world's attention span drifts away again.
