The Ground Hog Gallop Feb 2, 2009

To celebrate Ground Hog Day, five intrepid Trompers enjoyed winter hike on what had to be the nicest day of this interminable winter. We will be sending pictures featuring the highlights of our day to Tromper Roger (Bassman) who is wintering in Florida - he will be so envious! AH

Well I'm new to this blogging so let me know if this is the accepted way to comment on a posting. Anyway, Feb. 2nd was an example of Tromper's luck. We probably picked the best day of the winter to go on this hike. Perfect temperature, clear sunshine sky, excellent scenery. To top it all the weather turned sour the very next day, validating the groundhog's prediction. I can't think of a better way to spend time than with good friends that have the patience to listen and the rare mutual appreciation of simple pleasures. These are seemingly difficult times for humankind but the groundhog reminds us that the world will continue to turn and the seasons change with or without us, so take time to savour the natural world. A world that knows how to survive without stock markets, lawyers, and politicians.

Cheers and Happy Trails,
Sparky
